MUSEUM VISIT
Het nieuwe instituut

Natuurhistorisch Museum
What I saw first in the collection, was presented in wooden trays with glass plates on top. Together with high standing trays, this formed into one whole scaffold. This scaffolding was surrounded by a kind of tape, I think they did this to make the visitor feel even more that you are entering a certain part of the museum.
When you enter the museum, the counter to buy tickets is not to be missed. You can enter here free of charge both with the museum card and with the Rotterdam Pass. You will be guided by the first museum pieces that can already be seen upon arrival. A long container with dead animals in it. What is presented is printed on it in large letters. From there, the choice is free to determine which way to go in the museum, there are no further clear signs that you must follow.
Because of this we almost missed the upper department. This is because if you complete your round you will end up in the museum shop. This gave us the feeling that we had seen everything until we came across the stairs on the way back to the locker. Actually this staircase is not to be missed, but perhaps they could have indicated this more clearly with signing.
A lot was presented in the first exhibition room (biodiversity). Large cupboards with all kinds of animals, there are also animals in the middle. This room is impressive and leaves an impression. The insects are all pinned in frames on some sort of paper foam. The way of presentation works and you can compare it with data design.
Biodiversity
I have visited 2 of the 3 museums ((Natuurhistorisch museum, Het nieuwe instituut, Tent)). During the visit I paid attention to how the museum presented something and how the story was told. I have also relied on how the museum handles routing and signing, how you are guided through the museum.
Every room you enter has its own theme and is organized differently. This works well, there is a lot of diversity and a certain theme comes out even more strongly. Just like with the "More wild flowers".
